First Glimpse of the Grand Canyon

So, as you can imagine from seeing the pictures we were awe struck at our first glimpse of the Grand Canyon. I mean, really, there are no words to truly capture the overwhelming vastness and sheer beauty of one of the world's "Seven Natural Wonders." (I didn't even know that until the other day when Leslie told me!) When you're standing on the edge of the canyon it is a little overwhelming as your eyes struggle to take in its beauty for as far as they can see. We all stood around in disbelief as we soaked in as much as we could. Once we had enjoyed the view from the "Desert View" location we drove to some other vantage points to enjoy the canyon from different perspectives. Each one was new and just as beautiful. It was totally worth the 3.5 days it took us to venture out!

After the better part of our day spent at the canyon we drove a mile outside of the park (Grand Canyon National Park) and found an RV park to rest for the night. We decided to stay at this park for both nights that we would be at the Grand Canyon and it turned out to be a pretty nice place. There was a pizza parlor within sight as well as an ice cream shop. We enjoyed pizza on our picnic table outside the RV underneath our canopy, a fun game of volleyball followed by ice cream for everyone with the kiddos enjoying theirs while watching a movie in the bunk beds. (Of course we paid for this the next day as we got them ready and discovered nearly all of them had ice cream hair!)

We awoke on Wednesday morning to go enjoy some of the sights around the Grand Canyon area before our Sunset Jeep Tour that evening!
